Howl-O-Ween Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Howl-o-ween Giveaway Hop, hosted by  The Mommy Island & The Kids Did It!

It’s that time of year, again. Fall is most definitely fell, and spooky season is on its way! The new neighbors front yard is already fully tricked out as a haunted graveyard!

There have been a whole bunch of September 30 vs. October 1 memes out there. Most of the ones I’ve seen feature the witches from Hocus Pocus, which I’ve never seen. (That’s probably some sort of sacrilege, I KNOW!) But since I have not seen that movie, here’s a similar themed meme that I most definitely have seen, and still love:

I love how the difference is in their attitudes instead of their costumes or appearance. They’re just so BORED with us all until Halloween season, and then WOW!

Although I remember the original Addams Family TV series, and it was a whole lot of fun, Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston as Gomez and Morticia in the 1990s movies (how time flies!) are still my favorites. What about you? What’s your favorite creepy, spooky or Halloween-themed book, TV series or movie? Answer in the rafflecopter for your chance at our usual giveaway prize, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books.

Fall Seasons of Books 2023 Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Fall Seasons of Books 2023 Giveaway Hop, hosted by It Starts At Midnight and Versatileer!

Once upon a time, this was the Month of Books Giveaway Hop, now it’s the Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop, with the hops starting on the days the seasons change. Today is actually the THIRD day of Fall no matter what it looks like where you are. I’m in Atlanta so the leaves have started falling and the cats are FASCINATED!

But the question this season is the same question it’s always been for one of these particular hops. What book or books are you most looking forward to this season?

I’m never looking forward to just one thing when it comes to books. Here are a few that are at the top of my list for this fall of 2023:

Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
Chaos Terminal by Mur Lafferty
Murder Crossed Her Mind by Stephen Spotswood
Shards of Glass by Michelle Sagara
Valdemar by Mercedes Lackey

What about you? What books are you most looking forward to this fall? Answer in the rafflecopter for your choice of either a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books so you can get one or two of the books on your list!

Holiday Kickoff Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Holiday Kickoff Giveaway Hop, hosted by  The Mommy Island & The Kids Did It!

It’s that time again! Or is it? Does it seem like the holiday season starts earlier to you? Is Labor Day too soon? When is it time to put up Christmas decorations? The day after Halloween? The day after Thanksgiving?

Is it too early – please, I sincerely hope it is – for the All Xmas Carol All The Time music channels to start playing everywhere?

When should the holiday season kick off? It seems like a question capable of being endlessly debated, with Thanksgiving and its poor, dried out turkey getting swallowed up in the middle. Maybe someone needs to pull the wishbone to get the best answer!

That IS the question for this hop’s rafflecopter, about when it feels like the holiday season – or what kicks that season off – in your mind. Let us know for a chance at Reading Reality’s usual hop prize, the winner’s choice of a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books.

Hello Autumn Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Hello Autumn Giveaway Hop, hosted by Review Wire Media!

Hello Autumn and Hello Blog Hop! I just found out about this hop late on Sunday, and here we are on Wednesday all ready to welcome in the new season with a giveaway.

As Autumn is football season, it could be said that there’s a ten-yard-penalty for rushing the season, as it won’t officially be autumn until later in the month. Howsomever, any excuse for a blog hop is a good one!

Spring may have sprung several months ago, but Fall is just about to fell – as are all the leaves on the trees if they haven’t started already. Making this the perfect time to start preparing for the season of leaf raking and the cooler temperatures ahead.

Of if you’d rather spend those chillier fall days indoors with a good book – or a bit of cheer from Amazon – enter the rafflecopter for a chance at a bit of one or the other, courtesy of Reading Reality.

Glam and Glits Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Glam and Glits Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox!

I have to talk about the ‘glam’ of this hop rather than the ‘glits’ because I still don’t know what a glit is. Glitter? Glitz? Something along one of those lines, I imagine.

But glamor at least is a word I’m sure of. Isn’t it funny how the definition of what that means changes over the years? Or at least the official definition. I’m pretty sure that ‘glamorousness’ is still in the eye of the beholder – adjacent to but not exactly twinsies with beauty being in the eye of its beholder.

Your mileage may vary, whether it’s glamorous or not.

Enter in the rafflecopter for your chance at one of Reading Reality’s usual prizes, the winner’s choice of either a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in Books. It might not buy a whole lot of glamor but it should be good for a glit or two!

Old School Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Old School Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox!

I’m not sure whether to ask “What is Old School?” or instead “Why does the stuff we remember so fondly become ‘Old School’ so damn fast?” And I think it’s the second question, dammit.

The music I listened to in high school is now ‘Classic Rock’, at least when it isn’t ‘Yacht Rock’, a designation whose name doesn’t make as much sense as I wish it did. The games that introduced me to computer gaming are so old school they need even more adaptation to play now than they did then – and don’t get me started on ‘boot disks’ because OMG that was such trial back in the day.

A huge part of what made Ready Player One – the book at least – so much fun for so many people, including moi – was that it made Old School seem new again – or at least took me back to when it was new and so was I.

What’s your favorite example of ‘Old School’ or what does that term mean to you? You know the drill about the rafflecopter and what you’ll get if you win, so have at it!

Back to School Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Back to School Giveaway Hop, hosted by Review Wire Media!

This was kind of a last minute hop, which seems utterly apropos as back to school preparations seem to spring up on pretty much everyone at the last minute. And that’s true no matter how far in advance people know when the kids are going back to school. The ‘lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer’ feel like they’re going to last forever – until they’re abruptly over.

That it’s still more than hot enough at least in the Lower 48, to seem as if the dog days of the season are NEVER going to end makes that whole transition to Back to School seem just that much more sudden and even anti-seasonal.

But if you’re looking for a little something to help ease those hot and sultry dog days, or if you need a bit of a breather as you rush around with the after-the-last-minute school stuff that always crops up, here’s your chance for just a bit of a pick-me-up, courtesy of Reading Reality.

Apple a Day Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the 2023 edition of the Apple A Day Giveaway Hop, hosted by Mama the Fox!

While the phrase “an apple a day” used to be, at least, an invocation to eat one’s fruits and vegetables to keep from getting sick, as the original phrase was “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, the apple in this hop’s image is more likely “an apple for the teacher” as this is the week that kids return to school in a lot of districts – including the districts in my vicinity.

So the parents I know are feeling caught between looking forward to everyone going back to their regular routine and also kind of dreading going back to their routine all at the same time. While at the same time still being slightly weirded out as August 1 seems like it’s much too early to be sending kids back to school. It’s still SUMMER! Especially in this heat.

But it’s not. It’s Back to School time!

Christmas in July Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Christmas in July Giveaway Hop, hosted by Review Wire Media!

From a certain perspective, Christmas in July, usually celebrated on July 25, is a true “Hallmark Holiday”. July 25th or thereabouts is when the annual Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments arrive in stores. On the other hand, the holiday is a bit of irony – not that the concept of “Hallmark Holidays” isn’t itself a bit ironic – as the weather in the Northern Hemisphere in July feels a lot more like the weather in the Southern Hemisphere on the date of the actual holiday!

Santa must get awfully warm in that suit if he shows up for a Christmas in July event!

Christmas in July may not exactly be a serious event, but an excuse to give and receive presents is always welcome. What would you like to receive in your Xmas in July stocking? Answer in the rafflecopter for your chance at a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a $10 Book to put inside that stocking!

Summer 2023 Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop

Welcome to the Summer Seasons of Books 2023 Giveaway Hop, hosted by It Starts At Midnight and Versatileer!

Once upon a time, this was the Month of Books Giveaway Hop, now it’s the Seasons of Books Giveaway Hop, with the hops starting on the days the seasons change. (One of the hosts has changed, too!) Today is the first official day of Summer no matter how hot it might already be where you are. I’m in Atlanta and I’m not sure whether Hades is this hot or not. Comparisons could certainly be drawn- not that I ever want definitive data on the question!

But the question this season is the same question it’s always been for one of these particular hops. What book or books are you most looking forward to this season?

I’m never looking forward to just one thing when it comes to books. Here are a few that are at the top of my list for this summer of 2023:

Blind Fear by Brandon Webb and John David Mann
Ebony Gate by Julia Vee and Ken Bebelle
The Ghosts of Trappist by K.B. Wagers
Hiss Me Deadly by Miranda James
Jade Shards by Fonda Lee

What about you? What books are you most looking forward to this summer? Answer in the rafflecopter for you choice of either a $10 Amazon Gift Card or $10 in books so you can get one or two of the books on your list!
