The Sunday Post AKA What’s on my (Mostly Virtual) Nightstand 6-6-21

It’s been “bounce-off” week this week and it looks like next. I’ve not been feeling quite the thing, so I’ve really been looking for books I can get stuck into right away. Which means I’ve thrown this week’s schedule into a blender fairly often in the last couple of days. I’m not too sure this version will stick either after the first couple of books – because I’ve already finished them! I also finished All the Feels by Olivia Dade because it’s what I desperately WANTED to read, even though it won’t be out until October and I can’t post the review for months. But it’s so good. If you loved Spoiler Alert you’ll love All the Feels, too.

But speaking of spoilers, I have to spoil this picture a bit. It’s titled “Anticipation“, after the song, but what Freddie thinks he’s anticipating here isn’t what he’s actually going to get. He’s hoping it’s food. Chewy’s boxes often contain food. And Freddie, out of all of our cats, is the one who lives to eat. He’s going to be so disappointed when we open these and he learns that it’s just kitty litter. Not that that’s not important for a cat who loves to eat! It’s just not nearly as interesting.

The Sunday Post AKA What’s on my (Mostly Virtual) Nightstand 5-30-21

I miscalculated when I was putting together the calendar and scheduled a tour for tomorrow. Which is Memorial Day. A day I don’t usually post a review, and when I do it’s at least somewhat relevant to the day. But I messed up so there’s a review. It’s a good book, I didn’t mess that part up!

There are no current giveaways or recent winners, which always feels slightly weird, so it’s a good thing that there’s a very good, Berry Good blog hop starting on Tuesday, June 1. It’s hard to believe it’s June already, but the weather is certainly heading towards summer!

I may not be giving away books or gift cards this week, but I always have a cat picture to give you. Freddie will probably never be the king of all he surveys, but at this particular moment he was the prince of quite a lot of paper products!

First and foremost, I want to thank Michelle from Limabean Designs for yet another terrific new graphic. Instead of cartoon Lucifer, this time it’s cartoon George – although George usually has a much more serious expression on his face. That’s actually his hashtag – #SeriousGeorge.

Speaking of #SeriousGeorge, I also have yet another cute kitty picture for this week’s Sunday Post. Because what would Sunday be without more books to read and a cute kitty to share them with?

Sunday Post

Last week I had a picture of Freddie and George in a cuddle line. Today’s picture is Lucifer and George in kind of a cuddle-squish. Lucifer was sleeping on the cat bed by my nightstand and George decided he just HAD to be with him. No matter how much he had to squish him.

And yes, George is about twice the cat that Lucifer is – although I think part of Lucifer might be under George in this picture. The scary thing is that George is barely a year old and might still be growing!

As announced yesterday, I’m now the sole host of Stacking the Shelves, which was started by Tynga sometime in the way back after a different meme that did the same kind of thing disappeared. I’ve been co-hosting for several years and posting both at Tynga’s and at Reading Reality, but she’s decided to concentrate on her Etsy shop and other endeavors so I’m the remaining host. I have a new graphic, which features a cartoon version of Lucifer, so a Lucifer picture on today’s Sunday Post felt like the right thing to do!

Sunday Post

Today is Mother’s Day. So a very happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, no matter what types of creature you are a mom to! The most rambunctious of my feline babies has treated me to not one, not two, not three, but four rounds – so far – of ALL STAR CAT WRESTLING! I am definitely entertained. And concerned for the stability of the furniture.

Very much on the other paw, last night a couple of absolutely adorable bois posed for this darling picture. Possibly out of exhaustion but still, they are adorable.

Sunday Post

Today I have an extra special version of “how it started/how it’s going” because yesterday was George’s first gotchaversary. It’s been a whole year since we picked up the orange energy ball and OMG how he’s grown!

I just discovered, to my utter chagrin, that although I prepped yesterday’s Stacking the Shelves post I neglected to actually post it. Red-faced apologies all around.

Clearly George’s gotchaversary celebration got WAY out of hand!

Sunday Post

I’m not exactly in the village of “Running-on-Time” this week. And it’s only Sunday!

One thing that did happen on time this week is that both Galen and I received our second COVID vaccinations. We’re looking forward to feeling comfortable doing a few more things – like eating in outdoor restaurants and going shopping in person for more than just groceries. (The UPS for my desktop computer started making sad fweeping noises this weekend, so its replacement just moved up the to-do list for what’s left of the weekend.

I’m always sad to see the Blogo-Birthday Celebration end for the year, but happy as always to distribute the presents. Congratulations to everyone who won, thanks to everyone who participated, and I hope you’ll all stick around to see what comes up this year.

Speaking of what comes up, here’s a picture of George both looking up and looking utterly adorable – as he so often does!

Sunday Post

All good things must come to an end, including my Blogo-Birthday Celebration Week. It’ll be back next year, while I’ll be here every day in between now and then.

Which leads me right to thanking everyone for their support and for their lovely comments on the big Blogo-Birthday post (and giveaway!) last Monday. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate what everyone said about the reviews – and the occasional mention of the cat pictures! (Also, for everyone who mentioned the giveaways, consider this my annual reminder that Reading Reality is self-funded, so if you enjoy the giveaways please use the Amazon Affiliate links in my reviews if you shop at Amazon. Every little bit does help!)

Speaking of helping, thanks very much to those who put in a bit for the puppers and kittehs in my Facebook Fundraiser for Planned PEThood of Duluth GA. The fundraiser closed last night and it met its goal thanks to everyone’s generosity.

And, just in case you are missing your weekly dose of adorable cattitude, I promise that regular service of cat pictures will resume next week!

The Sunday Post AKA What’s on my (Mostly Virtual) Nightstand 4-4-21

Sunday Post

Today is a LOT of things. It’s Easter Sunday, so Happy Easter to those who celebrate that holiday. It’s also the final day of Passover.

It’s the opening day of National Library Week this year.

And it’s the 10th anniversary of the very first post ever on Reading Reality, then called “Escape Reality, Read Fiction” after something on a t-shirt that’s STILL hanging in my closet somewhere.

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I’ll be celebrating all week long with giveaways every day! But it wouldn’t be Sunday here at Reading Reality without a cat picture. Here’s a picture of all the boy cats, lounging in my office doorway impatiently waiting for me to do their bidding – whatever it might be. In other words, just a typical day at Chez Reading Reality!
