Thankful for Books Giveaway Hop 2022

I am, always, thankful for books. There’s a quote from Anne Herbert that’s not nearly famous enough that goes:

Most of us can’t afford to buy all the books we want to read. Certainly as a child and young adult I couldn’t even begin to buy all the books I wanted to read. That’s what libraries are FOR, and that’s why so many people’s fond memories of them involve stacks of books and many pleasurable hours reading them.

The corollary to the quote is that the books you get through the library, while they may not exactly get you through times of no money at all they do get you through times that are missing something, or a whole lot of somethings, that you need or want or miss dreadfully. Or at least that’s always been true for me – and it has certainly been true these last few years of pandemics and upheavals and everything else that has upset chunks of the world and everyone in it.

So I’m very thankful for books to get me through. I’m also very thankful for the friends that have been part of the journey, and to all of you who have followed and commented and participated on Reading Reality over these past OMG 11 years (AND COUNTING!)

  31. I am thankful for family including my German Shepherd and cats. I am also thankful to all the authors who provide the books that we read. Thank you for the escape from reality.

  39. While I love my kids, I am most thankful for their teachers! Allllll their teachers, substitutes and TAs ~ starting number for teachers alone is 18. Yikes.

  42. Thankful for my husbands and my good health since I am 70 and he is 74. Also, thankful for our 2 wonderful children and their beautiful families! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  46. I’m thankful for the feeling of peace that overwhelms me when I look back over the past year and realize by God’s Grace, life is good!

  55. I am most thankful that our entire family is able to safely get together for the holidays this year.

  58. Lots to be thankful for, but I’m especially thankful that I’ve been okayed for permanent WFH (until retirement)! Yay.

  69. I agree with you; I’m thankful for libraries, always. But this year I am most thankful for my husband, our child, and our extended family, and particularly that all four of my parents are still with us, and that the pandemic eased enough that I have been able to visit them again. (We went two years without seeing any of them, because of a trifecta of the pandemic combined with the distance combined with my husband’s work schedule.) And I’m grateful to be visiting them all again this December.

  72. I am thankful that I am back living in my apartment after having spent seven months in a rehab facility for medical issues.

  78. I am most thankful for family- and for my sweet husband. We almost lost him last year to Covid 🙁 Thank the Lord every day for him.
