Welcome to the Black Friday Book Bonanza Giveaway Hop, hosted by yours truly, Reading Reality, and the Caffeinated Reviewer!
On the one hand, Black Friday isn’t quite what it used to be. It used to be THE semi-official start to the holiday shopping season – not that some frighteningly organized people didn’t get their shopping done well ahead of the season. With online shopping so convenient ALL THE TIME, one can hope that the madding crowds are a bit reduced. Certainly there are options that allow anyone so inclined (like moi) to avoid the proverbial Christmas rush altogether.
On that other hand, Black Friday got it’s name because that was the day when most retail stores began making a profit for the year, flipping their ledgers from red ink to black. I wonder if that part of the name still holds true?
One year we were in Vancouver, BC for Thanksgiving and the weekend after. It was very, very strange to see all the Black Friday sale signs in a place that did not have a Thanksgiving Thursday, as Canadians sensibly have their Thanksgiving holiday in October!
But here’s your chance to do a little shopping for yourself this Black Friday. Just answer the question in the rafflecopter for your chance at either a $10 Amazon Gift Card or a $10 Book from the Book Depository to treat yourself or someone else.
For more fabulous bookish prizes, be sure to visit the other stops on the hop!
I shop a couple of months early since it’s stressful when the crowd builds up.
Thanks for the giveaway; I usually shop ahead of time. 🙂
I usually start Christmas shopping in mid November. I’m 50% done at this point. Thanks!
OH, definitely as early as possible.

I like to shop in advance.
Thanks for the giveaway. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.
I’ve been done for months (and everything online), but mostly because my list has gotten a lot shorter over the years as there are no more little ones to shop for.
I buy online if I special, saving me from going into shops.
Shop ahead definitely! I hate the crowds.
I try to shop ahead. I cannot deal with the stress of last minute shopping
I like to shop ahead 🙂
I do most of my shopping ahead of time.
My family prefers gift cards. I shop while running my regular errands. I hate crowds & the shopping frenzy.
I do both–I always start earlier to make sure I get the item and then have fun finding gifts throughout. Not shopping today though!
I shop ahead. I’m always coming across something that makes me think of someone so I grab it. The impulse buys are usually right on target. But I also like to join the last minute rush just for fun. I’m usually buying for myself then. LOL

Thanks for co-hosting, Marlene and allowing me to participate! 🙂
I am done with 95% and wrapping today. I have to spread out my spending. t
I look at things and if I like any, I try to see if they’re on sale later (with enough discount). But here the discounts are negligible, tbh, so I’d rather avoid the crowds!
I don’t really like to go shopping during the Xmas season, too many people 🙁
I shop from home and usually finish up by December 10th.

I usually don’t start until after Thanksgiving. I do most of it online tho, so don’t have to worry too much about the crowds.
I like to shop ahead!
i shop both before and during the holidays! 🙂
I shop ahead for Xmas.
I shop ahead of Christmas
We draw names during Thanksgiving so I don’t start shopping until the day after plus half our family birthdays fall in November and December so there is that, too. I do a lot of cyber shopping these days, but there are a few things I like to go to the store for at some point.
I shop online for all my gifts now.
A little of both. I can’t do the Black Friday thing in stores anymore. Thanks for the giveaway chance.
I avoid the stores now until after the new year. I do all my shopping online… I can’t deal with the crowds. To much. Awesome giveaway. Thank’s!
I shop all year round and keep gifts in my “store” (spare room). My challenge is getting them all wrapped and shipped on time!
I shop throughout the year and store all the gifts in a closet.
I usually shop way ahead and get it all done. This year I’ve been a bit slow so i’m doing a lot online. Thanks!
I’m known for waiting until the last possible minute.
I wish I was one of those people who had it together enough to start early, but sadly, that’s just not me.
I shop ahead throughout the year.
I don’t really shop. Everyone gets gift cards!

I am not a shopper and I am so not a holiday shopper so if I don’t get it online, then I am probably going on Christmas Eve running around like a mad woman trying to find something…lol.

I shop ahead and all the way through. I’m gonna do the best I can.
I shop ahead of time! I only have my mother left to buy for, but that is because I don’t know what to get her! ahh!
I shop ahead starting in January!
I actually shop all year round, but mostly after Thanksgiving. I’m usually done by early December and do most of my shopping online. I do not like the crowds.
Only a past couple years back, mostly online now. I don’t like wasting my time in line and the traffic at the mall is crazy. It’s better to go off season
I totally like to shop ahead if I can. It’s so much easier that way.
wait for the season!
I start shopping early, but then during Black Friday my daughter and daughter in law loves to shop all day and all night, so I give them my list and they basically get everything in those couple days that I want. My patience will not let me shop like that since I have gotten older!!
“Do you shop ahead for Xmas, or do you like to wait until the season and brave the crowds?” I shop way in advance because I want to get just the right thing for people.
I shop ahead. Sometimes if I see something throughout the year I’ll buy it and put it away for Christmas.
I spread it out throughout the year and am done by Black Friday.
A little bit of both.
I shop ahead! 🙂

shop ahead
I shop ahead for Christmas as much as I can, but I always end up buying some things after the sales start!
We are not giving gifts in our family this year, so it really cut down on my need to shop! Usually I put away some items but save most of it until around October.

i don’t start shopping until december
I love to shop early….but I think I spend more because I find goodies I think I need to get someone during December when I am already done shopping for them.
I shop year-round. I hate crowds.
Thanks for the contest.
Thankful for this giveaway!
I really try to shop all year long.
I usually wait until the start of the season since that’s when all the bazaars and sales usually happen in our area.
I usually do both shop ahead and wait until the season. Either way, I find myself doing more and more of my shopping on line.
I do a little of both.
I always shop ahead! I hate the crowds 🙂
Wait because I’m not one to think ahead
I shop ahead and also last minute! Thank you
I try to shop all year round but I make a big push in November and December.
I actually don’t do either. I let my husband do all the shopping. =P Our kids are pretty easy to please.

I never shop ahaead. Im always at the store the day before Christmas.
I wait until after Thanksgiving. But I generally shop online (I don’t like the crowds).
I always shop ahead to avoid stress.
Thanks for the giveaway! I usually shop ahead with some things and wait a bit later for others. It all depends on the year and the present.

I’m doing both… If something inspires me ahead of time I buy it and then in December I buy everything I’m missing.
To be honest, I plan to shop ahead every year, but always end up shopping the last minute. 🙂
I wait for the season because I’m horrible at keeping secrets and always want to give them their gifts right after I buy them! I avoid the crowds by doing most of my shopping online though.

I usually leave it to the last minute but this year I’m living abroad so I’m preparing it early to have everything shipped straight home!
We used to wait until December to start shopping, but this year we started in January because we wanted to do advent calendars for each kid that goes with their big present. Hopefully, I can do it again next year if it works out! I dislike the way some people behave during “Black Friday” and refuse to shop anywhere for that weekend.
Do you shop ahead for Xmas, or do you like to wait until the season and brave the crowds?
i start shopping way in advanced,i cant stand the big crowds!!!
I shop ahead, and then do a little small shopping after Thanksgiving.
I shop ahead!
I usually try to shop ahead, but since I am in grad school this year and working full-time I haven’t really had the chance. I better start soon though! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!
If I shop it’s before the crowds.
I like to think about what I will get people a couple of months ahead of time, but I don’t usually buy anything until about a month before Christmas.
I always have good intentions of shopping well in advance… but it never happens. 🙂 I rarely start shopping before December.

I shop ahead to avoid the crowds.
I have never really shopped before the season.
I usually start shopping at the beginning of November but I am really running behind this year.
When I had the money I shopped early. I hate crowds.
I usually wait until the season. I have to be in the shopping mood and that usually happens sometime after Thanksgiving.
Christmas shopping is an all year thing for me. I keep an eye and ear out all year round to find presents for those I love. I usually still have to go out last minute but its always somewhere in my mind to find Christmas presents!
I shop ahead for Xmas. I try to be done by Thanksgiving. Thanks for the giveaway. Fingers crossed to win.
