There is some really neat stuff in this book. There were parts I absolutely loved. I read those bodice-rippers myself back in the day, and loved them at the time, where I probably wouldn’t now. The worldbuilding here is excellent. I didn’t mind the misplaced Greek pantheon, I just wanted an explanation for it. Maybe in the next book.

It’s somewhat of a hesitant rec, since I didn’t quite make it to the end of the series–I stopped partway into book 5–but it was the first thing that popped in my mind when you mentioned the Greek pantheon.

I bought the first book and tried it but couldn’t get into it and put it down. I’ve been meaning to give it another try as I think I just wasn’t in the right mood at the time. Thanks for the rec!

@JenM: Have you tried Lucienne Diver’s Latter-Day Olympians series?

Thx.

I read a preview of the first 5 chapters and it sucked me right in, so I’m going to give it a try. Back in the day, I read enough bodice rippers that I don’t tend to be too put off by captive heroine situations. I also love books with the Greek gods in them, even if the mythology is distorted. Luckily, my library has copy so I’ll probably get it there.
