In reply to JenM. There is some really neat stuff in this book. There were parts I absolutely loved. I read those bodice-rippers myself back in the day, and loved them at the time, where I probably wouldn't now. The worldbuilding here is excellent. I didn't mind the misplaced Greek pantheon, I just wanted an explanation for it. Maybe in the next book.

It’s somewhat of a hesitant rec, since I didn’t quite make it to the end of the series–I stopped partway into book 5–but it was the first thing that popped in my mind when you mentioned the Greek pantheon.

Too bad the book didn’t totally work for you. I read a preview of the first 5 chapters and it sucked me right in, so I’m going to give it a try. Back in the day, I read enough bodice rippers that I don’t tend to be too put off by captive heroine situations. I also love books with the Greek gods in them, even if the mythology is distorted. Luckily, my library has copy so I’ll probably get it there.
