It’s very very different, but I’ve re-read it a few times now and it grows on me. Not all of it: not so good with grody violence here, ick, seriously, no more with the diseases and people getting squished or organ removal. Though I do get why these books are so violent, it’s not gratuitous usually, but I still have a pretty low tolerance threshhold for that kind of thing. And maybe try Galen’s story first (Angel’s Dance). Generally I’ve found that the short stories and the alternate characters’ stories are my favorites, or the parts of the Elena/Raphael books that include the other characters.

But as a cat lover, you should probably either avoid Angel’s Wolf or have a box of hankies sitting by.

Great review !

It was great that there were no misunderstandammits that could have been solved by a simple conversation. I hate those.
These two had real problems, and they did work on them by OMG talking to each other.
But you are SO RIGHT about the “Blue Period”. There is a limit to how fascinated I am by other people’s sex. Every other page.

Holy moly I see what you mean. But I have to admit, it’s nice to see a romance that has characters that act like adults and don’t necessarily run out the door in a fit of pique every time something goes wrong.

As far as normal girl gets rock star – the trope is flipped, but Robin Covington’s Temptation is normal guy (fire fighter) gets country music star. I liked it a lot – stayed up late to finish it, perhaps b/c I was wishing I was at the RWA conference and felt needy of romance immersion. One of my favorite details is how, when the heroine is in a rough spot, she actually calls her AA sponsor. Have never seen that before in a romance, and it’s stuck with me.
