She looks like she’s melting, doesn’t she? She must have just finished a really hot romance! But what kind of romance?

What’s your favorite?

There’s the ever popular “friends into lovers”, but sometimes “enemies into lovers” has a lot more heat.

There’s the tried-and-true “fated mate” syndrome (not one of my personal favorites) but there’s also the arranged marriage and the faked marriage that become real ones.

Sometimes the sex comes first (pun definitely intended) and love happens later. Lessons in seduction can make a terrific (and terrifically hot) story. Of course, there’s also good new-fashioned porn-without-plot, but that’s not romance, it’s just hot in there. Or out there. Or wherever!

Is it hot in here or is it just me?

  7. I like all different types of romance but I must admit that I LOVE historical romance!
    The best thing is that my husband loves reading history books and historical fiction and loves when I know facts about the different eras (i.e. Regency versus Victorian).

    I really enjoy reading stories that include detail about the historical setting it is placed and has a accurate portrayal of the politics and culture of the time period in which it is set. I also love when an author includes in their story some examples of the values as well as the prejudices of the time period.

    On the other hand I don’t think that for a book to be great it needs all of these but I enjoy seeing how the characters react when “the norm” and “expected” of the time period may not be what they themselves believe in

  27. I don’t think that I really have a favorite, but I like the enemies to lovers and fated mates probably the most. Though, I do admit, if it’s steamy….I’ll give it a try! 😉

  28. Oh I love it all. I seem to like it even more when they start a relationship or marriage and agree there will be no love yet it happens anyway and if there is danger involved it’s even better 🙂

  33. I don’t really have a particular dynamic I read a lot, but I do like historical romance. Mainly I like realistic, interesting characters…sometimes it can be annoying when characters seem to do things only because the trope dictates it. For example, the arranged marriage when the characters fall in love because the author says so, and we get no real sense of why they feel that way.

  54. I seem to lean more toward paranormal/fantasy romance; it doesn’t matter if its friends to lovers, enemies to lovers or destined to be together as long as its falls within the genre and sounds like a good story then I’ll give it a read.
